Historic Huntley High School demolished
Demolition of the former Huntley High School building turned apartment complex at 11624 E. Main St. began May 17. To view the Northwest Herald video, click HERE.
Built in 1875, the two-story brick structure featured two spiral staircases, four classrooms, and a cellar. A 1909 addition, added two more classrooms, a sick room, and a large – more graduated staircase in the back.

A Volunteer Valentine
The Clef Hangers barbershop quartet made a surprise Valentine's Day appearance at the McHenry County Historical Society Museum and delivered a Cupid-inspired concert. First quilt show in the books
Arlen Bird, Union, earned top honors as show champion for her "American Glory" quilt, a reproduction of a quilt first stitched in the early 1800s.
Sue Bruss, Huntley, claimed the People's Choice Award with her "Who Doesn't Love Christmas (Presents)" – Raw edge reverse applique made using leftover fabrics "from her stash."
The overall results are as follows:
