McHenry County Independants played a double-header vs. the Oregon Ganymedes at the Chana School Museum in Oregon, Ill. In a well-fought affair, the home team prevailed over our "beloved" – 12-3 and 12-4. At least we got a little closer! The next match is Saturday, July 22, in Lemont. Home games are scheduled Aug. 6 and Sept. 23.

July 22 – Saturday
• Noon – 1858 Baseball match in Lemont vs. the Quarrymen at 13860 Main St., Lemont. This round-robin tourney will feature the DuPage Plowboys and Valparaiso Lookouts. Take Route 83 south. Shortly after it merges with Route 171, turn left on Main Street. Food available for sale. Chairs/blanket to sit on and an umbrella for shade recommended. Free.
